should i go for MA english from ignou (psychology background)
hello! my qualifications are : Bachelor's (honours) in Psychology and Master's in Psychology. i completed my post grad this year, in june.
i don't really want to pursue psychology further right now (PhD, assistant professor, etc.) and I've always had an interest in studying english. I even wanted to do undergrad in it but mom told me to pick up psychology (didn't force me, it just happened). i do think i wasted 5 years of my life and i want to be mindful regarding all of this going forward.
I'm currently looking for jobs that focus on psychology, research, writing but if those things do not work out, i want to have something going on for me in the background so that i don't have a gap in my resume.
i love reading books, i used to write a lot in the past (I've stopped now but I'm trying to improve myself),
i also studied American Literature in undergrad for 6 months and i really liked it. i was the only student in the class of 40+ that completed the assigned readings haha.
some things worth mentioning :
-
i don't really want to go down the teaching line using the english degree later. i get anxious In big crowds. that's also the reason I'm not pursuing psychology further.
-
since i haven't done a bachelor's in english, I will be jumping straight into the master's degree. will it be hard for me to grasp stuff? bachelor's knowledge is required to smoothly sail through the master's?
I'm still thinking things through, i come from a middle class family so investing in this course will be huge for me. i don't want parents money to go in vain.
thank you so much for reading. any and all suggestions are welcome.
