Spouse in denial of MSPI
Our LO has had reflux and horrible has since day one. Around 12 weeks was when we saw the blood in her stool, and I immediately went dairy and soy free. The improvement was literally overnight, and with some additional eliminations (beans primarily) things have been living much better and LO is now 9 months old. We recently started reintroducing legumes and upping egg intake because they love food and we want to get more protein in the diet. Last week though, the symptoms have started to come back. Screaming at night and arching their back, waking every 2 hours, and pooping more than normal (2-3 times per day).
I told my partner that I wanted to cut back on beans and see if it helps, and instead of talking through it, I got hit with “wanting control” and comparing this to an eating disorder.
I get wanting to move on with food restrictions because it has been tedious, but the kid we have now is 10000x healthier and happier than the one we started with. Experimenting to find what’s bothering babe feels so low stakes compared to continuing and forcing them to have broken sleep and live in pain from gas.
Has anyone else had issues with their spouse not being supportive? Maybe it’s a primary parent thing since my partner doesn’t tend to her at night so they don’t have the data? I’m trying understand how this turned into an issue about control rather than just helping our LO feel better.
