I posted in concrete sub weekly thread, but figured I'd ask here too -

I received below estimate for my driveway, which is about 16x40 from garage to the street.

Looking around online has given me some things to ask about, but wanted to see how this looks - Central OH, so we do get cold winters and freeze/thaw, hence why my driveway looks like it does, though the initial cracking is likely from a neighbor's old massive tree that is now gone.

Things I already know or want to ask about when I respond

\- adding wire mesh reinforcement on chairs (so it's not sitting on the bottom doing nothing) - I want this driveway to last a long time. Rebar is likely overkill as we'll never have more than 2 passenger vehicles parked here

\- PSI of concrete being used

\- ٪ Air entrainment

‐ Payment/deposit timeline

\- tooled vs cut control joints

Questions for here - Is 3-4" compacted gravel base sufficient in my area? Looking around i see suggestions of more/deeper excavation and base...i'm not sure if those are referring to new concrete or not, as I have to imagine there is some sort of existing gravel base from the current driveway.

This company is run by someone I went to high school with (20+ years ago), but not someone I would consider a friend. Google reviews are all positive, 5.0 rating on 90+ reviews, so that's encouraging.

I'm also working on getting a total of at least 3, but maybe up to 5 estimates for this job. This is just the first one I got back. He has not come out to look at it, I assume getting measurements from something online, which is why some spots shows 13' wide when the driveway is actually closer to 16'.
