22 Law Student - Investing, Paying off Debt, and Saving for a home>

Misc

hi all,

I am a 22 year old law student going into my second year (of three) of law school. I was never taught by my parents the proper way to deal with money. I am wanting to start investing in an ETF or stock - but I don't know where to start. I also don't know if that is the proper step considering that I am currently in debt from school (which will continue to grow over the next two years).

I am hoping to finish law school with less than 100k in debt (approx. 65k in OSAP, and 30k on my Scotiabank LOC). I have little to no savings.

I am insecure about my financial state - and my lack of financial competency. My partner and his family are extremely good with their money, and I want to become more literate not only for myself, but for our future. This would include opening an RRSP, FHSA, etc.

I just don't know where to start or what to do. Is there anyway I can start digging myself out of debt before graduating? I work as much as I can (full time during the summer, and part-time during the school year), but maybe some sort of side income gig would be of interest to me as well!

Sorry for the complex/convoluted post. I guess I am wondering where to begin on my investing journey, and when to open and start investing in a FHSA. And if there are any Canadian side gigs that can aid me in paying off some of my debt, because I am embarrassed
