I've been interested in the TN system for a while because of how modular and customisable it is, so when I found this passport-sized trifold cover for sale second-hand then I couldn't resist giving it a go! The cover has a couple of tiny details that make me think it might have been handmade originally, which makes me appreciate it even more.

I attached a charm from an omamori that I got at a temple in Japan years ago – the fabric part of the amulet is long gone, but I'm glad I kept the little heart.

I'm using four TN inserts for now: zipper case; a blank notebook as a catchall for my thoughts, lists, and commonplacing; a watercolour notebook for drawing; and a dot grid as my dream journal (I want to remember my dreams more consistently and writing them down helps with that).

I'm writing with a fountain pen and burgundy ink to match the cover, and the Midori paper is making it a lovely experience. In the future, I'd like to try out a few different notebooks, like the Yamamoto Paper Ro-biki, and have a go at making my own inserts as well.

Overall, I really like how compact the passport is! I wanted a setup that I could carry around easily and this is perfect. The only thing that's a bit tricky is I can't clip a pen holder onto the longer edge, since the cover wraps around, but I can just take a pen case with me so it's not really a problem.

First time using a TN setup!
