Advice: Selling my MT-07 - dealer trade-in offers
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on the used motorcycle market and dealer trade-in offers.
I have a 2023 Yamaha MT-07, not limited to 35 kW, with 7,500 km. It’s in like-new condition, never crashed or dropped, recently fully serviced at Yamaha, and has a few extras: short license plate holder, Barracuda crash protectors, R&G axle sliders, USB charger and Quad Lock mount. It's the grey and turquoise colour.
I bought it in Portugal and imported it correctly to Switzerland in 2025 (part of my relocation), so it has Swiss documents.
I want to switch to a KTM Duke 390 and received two dealer offers:
- 2024 Duke 390 with ~400 km for my MT-07 + CHF 1,500/ EUR 1,600 from my side. Dealer says the MT-07 value is lower because it’s imported and if they want to limit it to 35kw they need specific documentation...
- Another dealer offered CHF 3,500 / EUR 3,735 for my MT-07. Their new 2026 Duke 390 is listed at CHF 5,999 / EUR 6,402
I know I could probably get more by selling privately (I see people asking between CHF 6,500-7,500 / EUR 6,936 - 8,000 and new it sells at CHF 8’590 / EUR 9, 168 without YMT), but are these trade-in offers normal or are they too low?
I’m trying to understand what a realistic best-case dealer trade-in offer would be for my MT-07. If anyone knows the Swiss used motorcycle market, I’d also appreciate some feedback.
These were only initial offers, so I believe there may still be some room to negotiate. I already told the second dealer that CHF 3,500 was too low, and they asked me what amount I had in mind.
Thanks in advance!
