: [26M] Ex [23F] of 6.5 years left me. She won't let me go, talks about him and ignores my boundaries. How do I actually do No Contact?
Hey guys. Im from Prague so english isnt my first language, sorry for any mistakes. Im 26 and my ex is 23. We were together for 6.5 years (since I was 19 and she 16.5). Im completely broken right now and my head is a mess so I really need some advice.
When we started she was crazy in love with me. She wanted kids and a family. Back then I was boxing, had confidence and friends. But over time I gave everything up just for her. We never moved in together though. She was finishing high school and I had to financially help my mom and my sister who just had a baby. If I left them they couldnt pay rent. So we stayed with our parents.
Then covid happened and I lost it all. I stopped boxing, gained weight and lost my confidence. She was fighting with her family a lot at home and kept taking it out on me, telling me I wasnt helping her. But I tried my best and honestly there wasnt much more I could do. Last year she started investing in her looks. Her work friends kept telling her she is young and pretty and should go enjoy life.
Then out of nowhere she called me and asked for a breakup. I just said "ok". We had some breakups before over stupid things, but I could never handle it and always called her back after a while. So I was 100% sure this time we would just get back together again too.
After that she kept calling me, saying she is texting guys. I lied that Im texting a girl just so I dont look pathetic and she got super jealous. Then for my birthday she planned a great day for me, we slept together and I really thought we are fixing things. But then she dropped a bomb on me. She went to Slovakia and slept with a guy she was texting. She said they fought and he was an idiot, but I was in shock.
Right after that she met ANOTHER guy in Slovakia. Hes 20, lives with his mom in a village about 400 km away from her. They only see each other like once a month, which is honestly the only thing that calms me down a bit. But she says she loves him. She tells me he is "nice and non-conflicting" and that he knows how to solve things. She even talks about moving there. I asked her: "What happens when you move to him? It will just be worse." And she just replied that it's not that easy to just move there.
But here is the part that is killing me. We still call and text constantly. Her new bf told her to stop talking to me, but she wants to keep talking to me and told him she decides who stays in her life. When I told her I am finally looking for my own flat here, she joked she will come visit and sleep there.
When we hang out, I literally beg her NOT to talk about him. I tell her I feel bad about it, but she just says "that's not how it is" and ignores my boundary. She keeps talking about him, and when I get pissed and walk away, SHE gets angry at me! And yet, she still gets jealous if I mention other girls.
I still keep telling myself that maybe one day she will come back. I went to therapy but it didnt help me much. The only thing I realized there is that I shouldn't change myself for her, because it's not guaranteed she will ever come back to me.
I know exactly what I should do. I know I have to do No Contact. But I still just dont do it. For 6.5 years everytime we had a break we ALWAYS got back together. My brain is just wired to think she will come back again. I am so addicted to her.
How do I break this addiction? How do I actually force myself to stop talking to her when I know what I have to do but I just cant do it? How do I get my life and my old self back? Please help.
So please, I don't need lectures on what a bad situation this is. I know it. How did you guys actually break the cycle when you were in a situation like this? How did you force yourself to stop replying when your heart was pulling you back? What actually helped you get through the first few months? I'd really appreciate hearing your stories.
Thank you means a lot 🤝
