need help w macbook options

hi i’m a 1st year college student looking to upgrade my laptop …. my old laptop is around 6 years old and is a lenevo thinkpad which came for around 30k at that time . it didn’t work well half the time and had the most basic features and nothing to swoon over …

i’m thinking to upgrade to a macbook this diwali and i would prefer recommendations between two macbook options .
the new model that just came out neo , and the macbook air m5 . i’m also looking at macbook air m4 chip version which is available on flipkart since it’s a little less costly and has almost the same features . for all three models im looking for 512gb , and 16gb ram i guess .

my main concern is longevity and a laptop that runs with countless updates for atlesst the next 8-9 years .

i would love deep dive into both the devices and what would be helpful as an international student and i think i can get 10,000 rupees off by using my student id but thats it …. if there’s any other ways , or info about getting discounts then pls share !!!!
