Let me be clear. I don't care for anime. Watched a little as a kid tho and I recognized the style. That soap opera drama where a whole episode would barely move the story. It would just give you a tiny bit of character development.

And I know this because I'm a fking idiot.

I play everything blind so my algorithms don't even know I own a game to avoid spoilers. This is the screen where I found out it had an English cast.

I had to save cutscenes constantly and rewatch them with tiny subtitles to get the story but I powered through because I didn't know I could change the language from the title screen and it defaults Japanese.

When I did New Game plus for the Platinum I swapped to English. Is the story easier to absorb. Yes. But wow the pacing is bad.

It's like so bad. All of that Japanese soap opera drama style evaporates and the pacing feels SO BAD.

And I almost ALWAYS prefer English. The acting makes more sense in a language I speak because of tone, inflection, accenting, context, and nuance.

But oh man is this better in Japanese. I understand why it's the default. And I'm not criticizing the English voice acting.

I'm simply saying treat it like an anime. Even if you're like me and don't care for anime. The storytelling style makes more sense. Consider swapping it to Japanese. Which again I usually would hate.

There's a reason who people who watch anime prefer it in Japanese with English subtitles. The style feels like a bad mismatch for English.

Why everyone is wrong about the pacing being bad
