Why doesn’t housing price adjust to supply and demand?

Came across a news recently that our country is projected to have a lot of unsold housing units, mainly due to our stagnating income and buying power.

If no one can afford it and the demand is lower, why wouldn’t the property market adjust itself? Shouldn’t the property be priced lower if they cannot sell out?
