Disappointed and Frustrated

I live in Germany and the process here are quite restricted. During my first IVF round, I had 30 eggs retrieved, 3 out of 6 matured eggs were fertilised, the rest were degenerated due to bacteria contamination. 1 made it poorly to blastocyst. Due to the contamination, we don’t know how many were actually matured. The bacteria contamination lead to the discovery that my husband had chronic prostatitis. He was placed on 4 weeks antibiotics.

Before I started my second round, I asked about options of ICSI and freezing. But my RE said conventional IVF made sense as I’m a high ovarian responder and freezing partially is not cost efficient.
I started the second round and had 30 eggs retrieved yesterday. This is 2 weeks after my husband completed his antibiotics. I received the bad news this noon that out of 30 eggs retrieved, 30 were matured, but only 1 was fertilised. I called my husband and cried badly over the phone over the poor result.

I plan to talk to my RE for a third round and choose 8-10 eggs for ICSI this time and freeze the remaining eggs. Besides this option, I’m not sure if we qualify for sperm dna fragmentation testing, assisted egg hatching or other IVF services. I’ll try to get more information from my doctor on the poor fertilisation rate. Just needed to unload my grief and need hugs! 🫂
