Weird Ask. I want to train in basic EMS, but I do not plan on seeking employment in EMS.

Hi. Pretty much the title. I'm in Texas. I'm fortunate to have a career so this isn't driven by a need for employment. I have young kids and we spend a lot of time hiking, camping, hunting, shooting, etc. — activities in locations that have slower emergency response times. I was trained in wilderness survival about a decade ago (living in CO), but I think I want something a bit more substantive — like basic EMS.

Would you all recommend a specific avenue for the above? I've thought about accelerated or online programs. I don't see a need to take the NREMT exam, but also do not mind doing so at all. I'm no stranger to studying — I have a doctorate.
