RC Name update steps?

I got my bike around years ago and the RC was delivered after a month of the purchase. However, the Bike center messed up the spelling of my name. After a lot of haggling, they mentioned it would take indefinite time if I go through them. Hence, I gave up to get it corrected via them. And I am being lazy as usual and have left it for a while. Now I am thinking is it even possible to get the name corrected after 2.5 years on RC? If yes, can anybody tell the steps to get it done.

I tried to do some research and everywhere they are telling me to visit the RTO office offline? Is there any online option? If not, how much effort is in the offline process.
