Should I focus on getting a job or start building something from scratch?

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity

I'm 21M and currently in college. I'm an average student and honestly don't have many useful skills right now.

I'm interested in building something of my own, but I'm confused about how I should approach it. Should I start from scratch, learn skills, and try to build something? Or should I focus on learning for interviews that can get me a job after college?

If I do go for a job, I don't want to learn things just for the sake of passing interviews or getting a job. I'd rather develop actual skills that I can use to build things, solve real problems, and create something valuable. If those skills eventually get me a job, that's fine too.

I don't have a specific business idea or much experience right now. I just know that I'm more interested in actually building and creating something than simply studying for interviews and following the usual path.

What would you do if you were 21 and in my position? Would you focus on building something from scratch, or first develop practical skills that could lead to both a job and eventually building something of your own?
