Moonsong-RP setting
Moonsong most often acts as my default homebrewed urban fantasy setting that often gets modified to fulfil different niches and support different characters.
Hidden world, Hidden history
Each story has a beginning and ours…starts in the prehistory, somewhere around 40 000 to 35 000 BC when late Neanderthal shamans created the first werewolves by doing something with prehistoric wolf spirit-lycanthropy later crawled to Homo Sapiens Sapines (modern human) that ended as a the last carrier species for this supernatural condition.
There was also a ,,ancient aliens period” with multiple advanced civilizations such as Lemuria or Atlantis that later got erased by various wars or cataclysmic events.
Supernatural and mundane creatures
Undeath
When a man or woman of impure heart dies after committing great sins, a great woe can rise from the grave as an undead abomination and the final form of a newly reborn monster most often depends on the cultural taboos of a specific individual.
For example, a VIII century Scandinavian warrior could raise as a draugr while pre-columbian cannibal had a far bigger chance to become a Flying Head. Ech culture has (or had..) different taboos that could result in a spontaneous reanimation.
Vampires
Vampires are one of the most common strains of undeath due to the fact that they can reproduce by draining and infecting with their dark essence BUT their ,,embraces” are messy and most often end with creation of a feral vampire or a classic zombie (shambler).
Younger vampires have at least 70% chance to botch the entire process while the Elders are able to create new bloodsuckers without any issues in majority of the cases. Without the presence of the Old One population booms are nearly impossible.
Majority of ,,Orlocks” comes from a generic common bloodlines but there are also a larger and more influential Noble Houses:
-House Rokko- Vampric technocrats using their unnatural state of existence to cross the technological barriers and augment their bodies with cybernetics.
-House Byl’ath- Zealots the Blood, evil worshipers of the Unnamed One.
-House Gabar- Winged righteous warriors using the power of the True Sun to smite the wicked.
Of course, you are free to invent new vampiric houses :)
Werewolves (turned ones)
Lycanthropy spreads like a cognitohazard-anyone exposed to their hybrid forms can end as another lycanthrope after getting hunted/chosen by the wolf spirit. This sort of a ,,infection" is extremally rare but general lack of any recognisable patterns makes containment impossible.
Werewolves in their inhuman forms emit some sort of a magical aura that adds ,,bigfoot fitler” to any photos containing at least 5% of their bodies.
Werewolves (wolfborn)
A person born from a lycanthropic parent will end as a trueblood werewolf with a far lower chance to cause a random transmission and after a few generations the ability to infect new people with lycanthropy will be lost.
There are also stable ,,breeds” with different physical traits or even cultures that are far easier to develop due to their purely hereditary nature.
-Benandanti- Bevenlovent christian werewolves of Italy. Protectors of the weak and demonslayers.
-Peryton- Warrior caste of the Atlantean society, now crusading against the dead in the name of their eldritch God of the Sun.
-Tribals- Not a pure bloodline but a general term used to describe various groups that left the civilisation in the past 80 years.
Fairy folk
Faires are nothing more than different evolutionary branches of humanity, mundane creatures adhering to general laws of psychics and biology.
