Good News Story/Surgery Prep

Hi all! I wanted to share my good news story for the women anxiously waiting for their surgery.

I’m a 32F, weighing 130lbs and my recovery from a laparoscopic myomectomy has been SO much better than I anticipated. I’m able to walk on my own, shower, use the bathroom, and slowly (emphasis on slowly) pick things off the ground, when needed. I’ve also not needed any crazy pain meds prescribed to me, and have solely been relying on prescription strength tylenol and muscle relaxers. I’m not really experiencing pain, just some pressure and discomfort. (I do have a high pain tolerance.)

My surgeon removed multiple fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis. I am so grateful everything was able to be removed in 1 surgery.

I truly believe what I did to prepare is why my recovery is going so well. A month leading up to my surgery I chose to be completely sober. 4 months leading to my surgery (when I first learned I had fibroids), I began weightlifting (3x/week) seriously. I’m also a runner so I continued to run about 5 miles/week.

The hardest part of my recovery is laughing and coughing, and also sitting up/down.

I wanted to share this in hopes this calms someone’s nerves. I know I was anxious going into surgery in regards to what I would need help doing, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the independence I’ve been able to maintain. Granted, my independence is at a snail’s pace, but it’s not like I got anything better to do!

Here’s to hoping the fibroids don’t come back anytime soon!

Set yourself up for success, ladies! :) You got this!!
