Bilstein 4600 vs Rancho RS5000X for mostly highway driving?
I recently picked up a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 with 212k miles, and as you’d probably expect, the original shocks are completely shot.
On the LBZ I had , I ran Bilstein 4600s. They were a huge improvement over the worn-out shocks, but I still found the ride to be a little more jarring/stiff than I would’ve liked.
This truck will primarily be a daily driver with mostly on-road/highway miles and the occasional dirt road. I’m not doing any serious off-roading, and ride comfort is definitely more important to me than having a super firm or performance-oriented setup.
For those who have experience with both, which would you go with:
Bilstein 4600s or Rancho RS5000X?
I’m mainly looking for the best combination of a smooth, comfortable ride while still having good control on the highway. If there’s another shock in the same price range that you think would be better for this use case, I’m open to suggestions too.
