Are salt licks safe?

Are salt licks safe?

Just finished going on a run and my cat was licking my sweat. I get its nice and salty but like... I'd rather he not lick me. If I got him and my other cat a salt lick to share is that safe? Would they over consume? Is there salt in their dry kibble? Would it be good next to their water dish?
