What if Bruce was lying about the Hulk?

Okay so I never bought the whole explanation for smart hulk, Hulk is shown to be his own persona with his own personality but when he becomes smart Hulk it’s straight up just Bruce in Hulk’s body. Banner says he compromised and combined the brains and the brawn or whatever, but I think it was a lot less “amicable” so to speak. He just found a way to take over and suppress Hulk, keeping him locked away in his mind. That’s why in BND Hulk got bigger when he surfaced, whatever barriers Jean broke let him out and he was PISSED. I hope this is the case at least, I miss Banner’s darker side and him essentially betraying Hulk and keeping him in a mental prison while he essentially takes over Hulk’s body is way more interesting than them getting all buddy buddy with each other off screen.
