Vanilla is black and should not be associated with white skins
Even though vanilla flowers are kind of white, their edible part is black and for that reason we can legitimately say that the vanilla we consume is black, just like the tomatoes we eat are mostly red despite coming from yellow flowers.
Vanilla is often considered the default flavor, associated with the color white because a lot of our basic white foods are flavoured with vanilline, which is a chemical and is not even coming from the plant.
But actual vanilla is a long black fruit which provides complex flavours, traditionally used as a spice in every kind of dishes, not only deserts. If you have the opportunity to eat Ice Cream with actual vanilla in it, you will observe black dots at the surface of it, these are what give that vanilla taste. The white color is simply the color of the cream.
Hence, it makes no sense to associate white skins with vanilla. We could argue that comparing people skins to food items is lame anyway, but at least the association between black skins and chocolate or coffee is more consistent (and both mix better with milk which is actually white btw, so it would be more of an anti-racism metaphor โ๐พโ๐ฟโ๐ป for white skins if it makes sense...)
