Would you write a fic knowing your theory will be disproven by canon?

I have some serious feelings about a couple of marginal characters. Some canon material has just been released about them, and I really want to elaborate on that.

More canon material is to come within the year, and it will answer some questions about what the characters have been doing since the end of the canon story. I know for a fact that these specific answers cannot be guessed before the material is released.

Would you still write the fic?

I was really excited about it, but lost some enthusiasm upon finding out that we are still missing context. My perfectionism is being weird about it.

How do I get the enthusiasm back? I had already written a part of it and was really proud
