Issues with Android Auto in 2021 Civic Sport and Pixel 9a
As per the title, I am having issues getting Android Auto to work with my 2021 Civic Sport. The short story is that my center console will see my phone when it is plugged in, attempt to start the feature and then appears to soft crash on the console. I will briefly see the Google Map navigation appear to try and launch and this is where it soft crashes.
The connect to smart phone feature then displays connect to smart phone instead of the Android Auto icon. Pushing the connect to smart phone does not restart the Android Auto features on the console and just says to make sure a phone is plugged in.
My phone on the other hand says that it is in Android Auto mode. It also continues to charge the phone as well
My pixel is running Android 17 with the latest updates installed as of this post (August 12, 2026) and I've tried to both roll back to a prior version of Android Auto on the phone and also with the latest software update.
I've tried 3 different USB A to C cables and all have similar issues.
Any tips or tricks I might be missing? I am comfortable updating the console myself as I know about https://usb.honda.com/ but need to find where to get the specified file (just got the car so learning the in and outs of it)
