FH6 account progress from pirated copy to "legit"

FH6 got an update recently and I can't get it to work on my pirated gamedrive copy (game crashes on PGG/T10 intros with no error). I've played this game just from the time when it was leaked and I've got some progress, which I don't want to lose. I'm tempted to buy "legit" copy for the sake of not hassling around the updates.

Two questions:
-if I activate the standard game code on xbox account, will my progress stay as it were before the activation? Right now I've got VIP account, all paid benefits etc.
-I'm also going to upgrade my SSD, because my SATA one apparently isn't fast enough for this game and decent M2 disk costs the same as legit FH6 copy. Anyone has managed to update the cracked game and play it online?
