Exposing a Fake Guru: Pretending to Trade Real Money While Using Sim
Hey everyone, I wanted to bring this to the community because I don't want beginner traders to potentially fall for something and waste their money. The person I'm talking about is DeJay Momentum on YouTube. He goes live pretty much every day trading small caps, and he also runs a paid Whop community.
I joined his Whop membership for $10 a month because I wanted to learn his strategy and watch his live broker view through the YouTube links he provides to members.
While scrolling through his "Trading Station" channel on Whop, where members post pictures of their trading setups, I came across an image of his setup that immediately caught my attention.
If you zoom in on the bottom of his broker screen, you can see red text that appears to indicate the account is a demo/sim account. I use the exact same broker, CMEG CPro, and whenever you use a demo account, that red text shows up at the bottom.
If you're a member of his Whop, you can check the image yourself in the Trading Station channel, assuming he hasn't removed it by the time you see this lol. I'm pretty sure it's going to disappear once this post gets attention.
There's also something else that seems suspicious. For his private "live broker" YouTube channel, which he only gives links to members, the bottom portion of the broker screen is cut off and the top portion is blurred. The top is where the account information would normally be shown, including whether the account is demo or live.
Because of all this, I think there are legitimate questions about whether he's actually trading real money or making most of his money from his members.
He currently has 307 members as of today at $10/month, which comes out to around $3,070 a month from the membership alone.
I would genuinely love for him to prove me wrong. If he can provide verifiable proof that he's trading a live account, I'll donate $3,000 to any charity he chooses.
I've also asked him in his YouTube chat for some transparency, like showing verified trading journal results, P&L curves, or something from TraderVue. Instead of answering, he blocked me and called me a "hater" lol.
How is asking for transparency considered hating?
I'm not telling anyone to blindly believe me. Look at the evidence yourself and make your own decision. If you're a member, ask questions and get some proof before continuing to pay. I don't want any beginner traders to waste their hard earned money for some fake guru scammer!
