Timex Expedition Date

Hello everyone, I’m planning buying a Timex Expedition. I had one a while back (A vintage Expedition from the 90’s) that I bought used. It all worked perfectly, except the date.

I wonder if it’s common to the date to fail or stop working? I ask you this because I’m considering buying the version without date which is a bit more expensive. I honestly don’t mind the date, I like it, but if it’s gonna be probably a problem I prefer to go with the no date.

Besides that, any colour recomendation? I’m lost with all the models, I want them all 🤣 Thank you!
