Less night sleep when traveling?

6 - 12 months

We’ve been visiting family with our 9 month old for two weeks now. At home he was doing 2h of day sleep between two naps and 10-10.5h of night sleep with 1-3 wakes, usually needing some assistance after 5:00/5:30am. There was a 2 hour time difference from our home time zone, so we gradually adjusted to that, but tried to keep day sleep the same around 2h. He’s been napping really well when traveling, going down easily and we wake him from each nap in order to cap day sleep. He’s needed more assistance to fall asleep at bedtime whereas he’s usually quite independent at home, and he’s had more night wakes which I know can be expected when traveling. But his night sleep has consistently been closer to 9-9.5h while traveling. Is this common and likely to shift back towards 10-10.5h when we get home? Or is it possible that his sleep needs started shifting and we’re looking at needing less sleep overnight moving forward? I hope that’s not the case, it already feels like he sleeps so little 🙃
