Hyderabad, delhi or kochi for 2years of upsc self study
Title: Hyderabad ,delhi ,vs Kochi for 2 years of UPSC self-study — what would you choose?
I’m planning to prepare for UPSC 2028 through self-study. I’m not planning to join coaching because I prefer studying on my own using books, PDFs, online resources and test series.
I’m currently confused between Hyderabad and Kochi.
My husband strongly prefers Hyderabad because he feels I’ll have easier access to UPSC books, materials, libraries and, importantly, a community of serious UPSC aspirants. I also feel that being around other aspirants could help me find a small study group and keep me accountable.
But personally, I’m much more attracted to Kochi. I’ve seen some beautiful, spacious 2BHK homes there within around ₹15,000, and I really value having a peaceful, pleasant and scenic environment. Since I’ll be studying mostly at home/library for 10–12 hours a day, I feel that my living environment will affect my motivation and consistency.
My concern is: Will I miss out significantly on the UPSC ecosystem/study groups if I choose Kochi instead of Hyderabad?
For someone who is doing self-study and not coaching, which would you recommend?
Hyderabad: better UPSC ecosystem, materials, libraries and potentially study groups
Kochi: better housing, peaceful environment and lifestyle
Would love to hear from people who have actually prepared for UPSC in either city. Is access to Delhi/Hyderabad-type UPSC resources really important for self-study, or can I prepare equally well from Kochi?
Also, if you’re from Kochi, are there good libraries/study spaces where serious UPSC aspirants study together?
