Facing an Independent Medical Exam (IME) for corporate burnout soon. Any advice on what to expect in Adelaide? Or has anyone gone through this?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in the final, exhausting stages of an insurance claim following a severe case of corporate burnout. It took a massive toll on me, and taking time off to reset was the only way through.
Now, the insurance company is making me attend a mandatory Independent Medical Examination (IME) here in Adelaide on September 11th to wrap up the paperwork. From what I’ve read, dealing with these third-party doctors and the corporate/legal tone of the appointment can feel incredibly clinical, cold, and intimidating.
I’m honestly feeling pretty anxious about facing it alone. Has anyone here in Adelaide gone through a mental health or burnout IME before? Any advice on how to prepare or what the atmosphere is like?
Also, because none of my close friends are available that day during business hours, I’m genuinely terrified of just sitting in that waiting room spiralling by myself. If there are any working professionals here who have been through the corporate grinder, understand the burnout struggle, and happen to be free in the CBD for a couple of hours on Sep 11th—I would be incredibly grateful for a friendly face to just sit with me in the lounge and keep me grounded. I'd gladly cover coffee/tea for your time!
Any tips or support would mean the world. Thank you, Adelaide.
