Desperate with nipple thrush.
Two weeks ago, I had my third baby. The birth was complicated and ended in an emergency c-section and I received antibiotics for 2 days.
I suspect that the antibiotics caused a yeast infection which spread to my breast and therefore also to the baby.
In the beginning I thought the pain was because of tze typical start of breastfeeding and would go away after a few days like it did with my two older children.
But it got worse and my nipples also started to crack and now I'm in agony with every feed.
I finally took my Baby to the doctor today who told me that most Babies that age have some kind of thrush and there ist nothing to be done unless I have trouble nursing and then the Treatment would be for me only, and recommended nursing with silicone shields.
I started Treatment 2 days ago with a cream I got from the pharmacy but nothing seems to change. Also, I read that the treatment should be both for Baby and mother in order to prevent passing it Back and forth.
Also I am hesistant to use silicone shields because I never used them and I'm afraid Baby will get used to it.
I am desperate for advice and would Like to hear what some of you did in order to get rid of the thrush?
