APS linked to old passport, but I renewed my passport — VFS appointment experience (Indian Applicants)

Appointment related

Hi everyone,

I recently received my admit for the FAME Master's program at the University of Stuttgart and wanted to share my experience regarding an old passport + APS situation, since I was quite worried about it.

My APS certificate was issued/linked with my old passport, but I later renewed my passport because I wanted to update my phone number and email ID.

For my visa process:

My APS was linked to my old passport number.

I booked my VFS appointment using the old passport details, since the new passport was not being accepted by the system.

In the CSP application, I uploaded my new/renewed passport.

I was worried that there might be an issue because the APS and appointment were linked to the old passport while my current passport was new.

I went to my appointment carrying both my old and new passports.

The staff checked both passports and then allowed me to proceed inside for the appointment.

So, at least in my case, having the APS linked to the old passport did not prevent me from attending the appointment, as long as I had both passports with me and the documents were properly explained.

I'm sharing this because I had a lot of confusion about whether I would need a new APS after renewing my passport.

APS guidelines: If your APS is linked to your old passport and you have since renewed it, carry both the old and new passports to your VFS appointment and make sure your CSP application contains your current passport.

Hope this helps someone in the same situation. Good luck to everyone applying for Germany! 🇩🇪
