What hotel supply catalogs taught me about silk duvet covers.
One thing you learn after years in the bedding business is that hotels care about durability and practicality in ways most shoppers never think about.
I’ve spent a lot of time looking through hotel supply catalogs, and silk duvet covers taught me an interesting lesson: the cover itself matters almost as much as the silk inside.
A good silk duvet needs a cover that fits properly without constantly shifting or bunching. I’ve seen customers buy expensive silk inserts and then put them inside oversized or poorly constructed covers. The result is usually disappointing.
Another detail I pay attention to is the closure. Zippers, buttons, ties, and corner attachments can all affect how securely the duvet stays in place. With silk, unnecessary friction and rough hardware are worth avoiding.
Hotels also reinforced something I’ve said for years: fancy materials don’t automatically mean better bedding.
With silk, proper sizing, construction, and care often make a bigger difference than simply choosing the highest price tag.
