Letting a Druid speak in wildshape
Hey, I have this construct Druid player. I’ve let them reflavour Wild Shape as their body morphing—like a transformer—into their desired beast. Though I did tell them how this is a disadvantage as it would remove their ability to pass as a real animal, they were okay with that. I also told them that despite the reflavouring everything will work as RAW.
Now for the main question. This player has now asked me if their character can speak while on wild shape, saying their construct speaks with a voice box, and it could still work while in a different form. This is also a way to compensate for the disadvantage mentioned earlier.
Is this a good compensation? I’m leaning towards yes, but I’m also unsure if there are any unforeseen consequences that this could cause. What would you do? And what consequences could letting a Druid speak in Wild Shape cause?
Just to clarify, casting spells will definitely still be not allowed.
Thank you!!
