Man, I miss my brother (cringe grief posting)
Today was a great day. Warm but not uncomfortable with a nice Summer breeze. Clear blue skies. I have today off so I slept in, got up to go take care of my buddy’s pets while he’s out of town, drove around picking up gifts just because for my gf who I’ll see tonight, and now I’m chilling at my friend’s crib keeping an eye on the critters while I play Halo, chew on nicotine pouches, and drink diet coke before date night (I’m a real catch, I know).
While I was driving from errand to errand I got to thinking about how much I wish I could just call my brother and tell him about what’s going on with me today. We were twins, but he had some mental health problems, drug issues, and a lot of legal issues. I lost contact with him a year ago or so and I just sort of figure he’s overdosed or gotten killed. Then I got to thinking about our childhood friends who had either passed on or gotten locked up, then our mother, who passed when we were little kids. Idk. For all the genuine evil in the world, the good moments sure do feel good. I wish we could all have more of those. I’ve had a hard go of it, but right now I’m petting the chunkiest, friendliest kitty while I type and listening to the sweetest, oldest big mutt snore. I don’t think that these things make up for a young life of opiate addiction and legal troubles that ended early, but they do prove that there’s something more than pain out there. I wish my brother could’ve understood that.
So, yeah, gumshoes. Tell the people you love that you love them while you can. And if you’re struggling take a moment to get away from it if you can. Idk, I guess that’s all I have to say.
