Why do I keep hearing about pedophiles here?!

I don’t know if it’s this sub or a different teenage one, but I keep hearing people mention pedophiles! And I don’t know why I keep seeing posts about them, sometimes their posts defending them(people who are attracted to kids not ones that act on it), and some mod defending them. So like… what’s up?!
Is this a normal thing?! Am I crazy?! Are you crazy?! What’s crazy?! Where am I?! Why do I hear about pedophiles a lot??!!
