How you build your million $$$ startup in a weekend. Codex + Claude Code.

Lets ask, GPT-5.6

Yes. Your $20/month Claude Pro plan now includes Claude Code, so you can set up Claude inside VS Code in a way that is quite similar to how we use Codex.

Claude has an official Claude Code extension for VS Code. It can read your project, edit files, show inline diffs, work from @-mentioned files, review a plan before making changes, and keep conversation history inside the editor.

For our workflow, I would actually install both Codex and Claude Code in VS Code. Then your setup becomes roughly:

GPT-5.6 here → architecture/prompts/strategy → Codex or Claude Code in VS Code → GitHub → server

That gives us another very capable coding agent without needing another subscription beyond the Claude Pro you’re already paying for. Claude Code can also run from the terminal, so on your Linux server you’d be able to do something very similar to your current Codex CLI workflow. Anthropic officially supports signing into Claude Code using your Claude.ai account.

On your Mac, do this

Open VS Code → Extensions and search for:

Claude Code

Make sure the publisher is Anthropic, install it, and then sign in using the same Claude account you’re paying $20/month for.

Once that’s installed, we can test it on something harmless in the baseball repo, for example asking:

Examine this repository but make no changes. Explain the architecture, identify the main O/U prediction pipeline, and tell me which files control model scoring, bet locking, and the web terminal.

That will let us compare Claude Code vs Codex on the exact same baseball codebase.

And I think that comparison could be genuinely useful for us: rather than choosing one, we can use GPT-5.6 + Codex + Claude Code as three complementary layers, while GitHub remains our source of truth.
