anxiety/misplaced mild aggression

i adopted my girl from a hoarding situation. initially she hid all the time and would hiss and bat at me if i went near her. we have made unbelievable improvements- she's now a total velcro cat who never stops purring. she loves me to pet her and she likes to squish herself up against me.

thats when we are alone though. when people come over she seems like she is very interested in being with everyone and comes over to the guest so decisively and wants to be pet but if someone actually tries to pet her she bats and bites lightly but still bites. she also hisses and bats and neighbors who like to come look at her through the window walking by our patio and growls sometimes if she hears the complex gate open.

she is also very afraid of lots of things including being afraid of most toys. she nervous pees as well.

my boyfriend just moved in and he is a dog person and wants to always pet her and cuddle and she comes to him and even lays on his chest but still bites him when he tries to pet her. she is pretty aggressive with him especially because shes the one who comes to him and does want his attention.

i'm considering an anxiety medication for her. anyone have a similar cat who benefits from meds?
