Buying used off FB Marketplace

So I found a good looking ps portal listed on fb marketplace for $180 CAD and I offered $150 CAD and they agreed. Comes with glass screen protector and a protective plastic casing for the portal itself.

The guy mentioned he bought it 3 months ago and used it only once.

After I confirmed to him that I’m willing to pick it up on Saturday he said okay and then deleted the listing. I messaged him again asking if he changed his mind but he said he just didn’t want to get people messaging if it’s still available. I’m new to using marketplace so not sure if ppl usually do this or if it’s strange. He has 3 other reviews which are 5 stars and sold around 7 other random items in the past so doesn’t seem like a scammer.

There’s also the PS Portal on sale brand new on Amazon for $269 CAD. I don’t know if a peace of mind is worth the extra bucks or if I should go for the pre owned portal.

Basically I’m just a bit confused as why he’s so easy to let it go for $150 CAD if he only used it once and purchased 3 months ago.
