Description

Level -26, known as “The Last Resort,” is an infinite tropical beach roughly 100 meters wide, stretching between the ocean and a boundary of either sheer cliffs or tall concrete walls overgrown with vegetation. The sand is fine and light-colored. Palm trees grow throughout the level; their coconuts appear artificial upon closer inspection.

Every few hundred meters, abandoned swimming pools appear. These pools vary in size and layout but frequently feature multi-colored tiled edges (commonly yellow, blue, and green) and are often partially enclosed by simple rope barriers. Some sit directly beside the waterline under permanently overcast skies. Nearby metal structures or fencing are common.

Beach bars and seating areas of inconsistent design are scattered along the shore. Many feature clusters of thatched-roof umbrellas, blue bean-bag chairs, white plastic tables, and occasional string lighting. Tall green promotional flags (some bearing partial text such as “BURG”) are sometimes planted in the sand. These areas are usually separated from the main path by grey metal fencing and gates. The bars themselves remain lit at all hours by an unknown power source and typically contain drinks, basic food, and limited survival supplies. Weapons and boating equipment appear only rarely.

A raised concrete road runs parallel to the beach. It is paved with interlocking bricks or sandy concrete and is lined with random shops, vending machines (most empty or nearly empty), and occasional parked vehicles. Cars of ordinary models (including white hatchbacks and grey sedans) can materialize along the road, in small parking clearings, or beside vending machines, often next to ivy-covered walls or concrete structures.

Small rectangular metal buildings referred to as medical shacks are found at irregular intervals. These are typically white with red trim, corrugated metal roofs, and a red cross symbol on the door. Many have external air-conditioning units. Their interiors contain medical supplies, miscellaneous tools, and occasional boating gear. Staircases with metal railings frequently lead from the raised road down to the sand near these structures.

Unusual woven, onion-shaped sunbed pods made of light-colored material (reportedly plant fiber) also appear on the sand in small groups , they are usually empty.

Weather and Day/Night Cycle:

Daytime weather is usually calm, warm, and heavily overcast, producing a flat, muted light. Conditions can shift into violent storms within minutes. When rain begins, immediate shelter is mandatory.

The level follows a standard 24-hour cycle. At night the sky becomes fully black. Visibility collapses outside of the few working light sources: isolated tall streetlamps that cast harsh white light and deep shadows, the constant interior lights of the beach bars, and scattered illumination along the main road and staircases. These lights are insufficient to deter entities. The medical shacks and bars are the only reliably illuminated and relatively safe locations after dark.

Entities

Entity activity is low during the day. The ocean appears empty at first, but deeper observation or any attempt to travel on the water reveals a large, octopus-like tentacled entity that destroys every manned boat, raft, or ship. Underwater exploration is almost invariably fatal. Unmanned boats of varying condition occasionally drift in or crash onto the beach; most contain only a single light source (LED flashlight or oil lamp).

After sunset, Smilers have been documented near the darker stretches of the road and sand. Other entities become more active once night falls. Weather also grows less predictable after dark.

Colonies and Outposts

No permanent colonies or outposts are currently documented on Level -26.

Entrances and Exits:

Entrances:

Passing through a sand-covered door located in Level 26.

Noclipping within Level 48 or Level 300.

Touching a specific palm tree in Level 300.

Exits:

Walking the beach for an extended period until a cave entrance is found.

The cave system’s destination remains unconfirmed.

Crossing past the visible horizon by sea. Successful crossings have led to Level 48, Level 300, or the Poolrooms. This method is extremely hazardous due to the tentacled entity.
