Hello!

I've started buying laptops off eBay listed as "For Parts or Repair" and fixing them up as a way to help cut back on e-waste. This is my 2nd batch.

All laptops have:

  • Been cleaned inside and out. Removed as much dust as I could
  • New thermal paste (Arctic MX-7)
  • Been reformatted with Linux Mint

Laptop 01 - Dell Latitude 7410 - $185 + shipping

  • Detailed pics

  • i7-10810u, 16GB ram, 256GB nvme (99% health), non-touchscreen 1920x1080 *Near perfect condition except for small crack on the bottom outer shell. Beyond that, very little wear to speak of.

  • Everything works - all ports tested, webcam/speakers are good

  • No charger included - uses usb-c for charging

  • Original faults - Would not turn on, hard drive removed

  • I believe the fault was a frozen BIOS. I removed the battery & BIOS battery, plugged them back in, and it turned on. Added hard drive.

Laptop 02 - Dell Inspiron 3780 - $90 + shipping

  • Detailed pics

  • i7-8565u, 8GB ram, 256GB nvme (98% health), non-trouchscreen 1920x1080

  • Good condition overall. There's a dent on the top of the case, but doesn't affect functionality. It was also missing a screw underneath. I replaced it with one I had on hand.

  • Everything works - all ports tested, webcam/speakers are good

  • Comes with genuine charger

  • Original fault - Based on the description, it sounded like a corrupt windows install.

  • Turned out to just be bitlocker encryption. Reformatted, works fine.

  • Unmentioned by the seller - both the battery & BIOS battery were pretty much dead. At full charge, the main battery lasted 45 mins at idle.

  • Replaced main battery with a genuine new one. Swapped BIOS battery with a new one. Everything works fine now.

Laptop 03 - Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 - $160 + shipping

  • Detailed pics

  • i7-1185g7, 16GB ram, 256GB nvme (93% health), 1920x1080 touchscreen 2-in-1

  • Good amount of cosmetic wear

  • Hinge is fine, but can be a bit wobbly when you're moving it around. Has no problem holding the screen at any angle though.

  • Everything works - all ports tested, webcam/speakers are good

  • HHHN logo is actually a very tiny engraving. I thought it was a sticker I could remove, but nope :( A Prime canidate for stickerbombing I guess :D

  • No charger - uses usb-c

  • Original faults - Would not turn on at first, screen was damaged beyond repair, half the keyboard didn't work.

  • Seemed like a frozen bios like the 1st laptop. Got it running again after disconnecting/reconnecting battery

  • Found a 2nd broken laptop on ebay w/ a good screen. Swapped it over and it works great!

  • Also swapped over the keyboard. Every key works fine.

  • Several keys are worn down. I figured I'd just take the keycaps from the 1st board, but somehow they're not compatible (even though both laptops are the same model). Replacing all the worn down keys would've cost the same as buying a new keyboard. That didn't seem like a good idea if my goal here is waste reduction.

  • One quirky thing to note - if it's been turned off for a while, like a day or two, the first time you go to turn it on, it takes several seconds to actually begin booting after you press the power button. But afterwards, it's instantaneous. No idea how to even diagnose something like this, so I figured I'd just give a heads up about it.

Laptop 04 - Nimo N171 Rose Gold - $140 + shipping

  • Detailed pics

  • i3-1215u, 8GB ram, 256GB nvme (93% health), non-touchscreen 1920x1080

  • In nearly flawless condition. I genuinely thought this laptop was new. Not even any dust inside. It's also MASSIVE

  • Everything works - all ports tested, webcam/speakers are good

  • no charger - uses usb-c

  • Original fault - would not turn on.

  • I guess I got super lucky and was 3/3 with frozen bios's. A quick unplug/replug of the battery got it working again.

  • Couple things to note:

  • you have to press the power button down pretty hard for it to actually turn on. If you only press down far enough to hear it 'click', it most likely will not turn on. I looked at it on the inside, and didn't notice any problems. I think it's just poor design on Nimo's part.

  • The cutouts for the USB-A ports are a little tight. For a couple devices, I had to use a good amount of force to actually insert/remove them. I made the mistake of thinking a device was not working, when I simply hadn't inserted it far enough.

Because I had a couple inquiries on my 1st batch, I want to state that I will only sell 1 laptop per person. I want to try to get these to as many people as possible, and I don't like the idea of selling multiple (or all) of my laptops to a single person.

Shipping is to CONUS only. Price includes full insurance. Because of my work schedule, I can really only make it to the post office on Saturdays. Local pickup is 92656.

Please comment before pm!

Thanks :)
