*(Premise, I'm not a* ***GameFreak*** *fan, I hate the way they handle Pokemon and this game is yet another demonstration that they're not good at managing projects.)*

Beast of Reincarnation is my favorite game of 2026, and I’ve played a lot of games this year, including Pragmata. But Capcom games are starting to feel a little too “mainstream/safe/impersonal” if you know what I mean.

Beast of Reincarnation is a game full of flaws. It’s a game I’d probably give a 5/10, because reusing bosses like that simply isn’t fair to someone who paid €50 for the game. But your favorite game isn’t necessarily “the best game”, it’s **the game you enjoyed the most**, the one you **found the most interesting** and BOR for me was the most memorable trip of 2026, here's why:

# THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE

I’m a huge Cinema enthusiast, and BoR has some absolutely incredible visuals. They may not be constant, but the ones that are there truly stick with you, unlike other games where they’re consistently good but never particularly memorable.

Have you ever actually looked up with the camera? I have, and there are areas with such striking atmosphere and imagery that I genuinely consider them some of the best-looking environments of 2026.

Mobility is fun and great with Emma's powers and in the second half the loot becomes really rewarding with a variety of builds that are right for the length of the game.

# THE COMBAT

The combat is genuinely **one of the best in video game history**, and I’m serious. I can already hear you laughing, but please, hear me out:

The combat is essentially Sekiro, but with a much more forgiving parry window, making it significantly more accessible (and playfull). So not only is its foundation inspired by one of the greatest combat systems ever made, one that countless Eastern studios are now drawing from for their own action games, but it also adds a solid and surprisingly varied RPG layer on top of it.

Parries don’t just build up the enemy’s stagger meter, they also activate the abilities of your different katanas, which come with all kinds of powers, such as launching lightning attacks or even taking control of enemies. On top of that, they trigger Kuu’s abilities through a tactical pause system reminiscent of FF7 Rebirth.

Guys, I’m sorry if this comes across as arrogant, but anyone who dismisses this combat system either doesn’t understand video games or simply doesn’t love them, because this combat is phenomenal.

The real problem lies in the enemy and boss patterns, which are far too repetitive. But despite that, the game still manages to be incredibly fun to play and makes you want a sequel.

# THE STORY

And then there’s the story. Yes, it’s full of clichés and has very limited animation but this almost impassive presentation fascinated me, because it reflects the apathy of both the protagonist and the world around her.

It’s also a story that evolves enormously in its second half, to the point where the game starts to feel much more like a JRPG. It becomes surprisingly ambitious, without spoiling anything, we end up taking actions and confronting characters who are extremely important to the game’s worldbuilding. It all begins to take the form of **an epic novel** that has its flaws but which, unlike many other games, **is ambitious and has something to say** that has left an impression on me for the emotional charge and evocative power of certain scenes.

For example, I found Kunai and the Administrator's Arena to be on the level of a Movie in terms of impact, perhaps because I play on a large TV and those who play the game just looking for an "action" game are less interested in this aspect.

The protagonist herself changes significantly throughout the journey, giving value to the people around her and learning to choose her goal. This is fundamentally a story about a journey, and the game genuinely manages to convey that feeling of traveling through that world, visiting various locations.

# CONCLUSION

So, no, I don’t think it’s nearly as shallow or generic as many reviewers have made it out to be. In fact, there hasn’t been another game in 2026 that has captivated me the way Beast of Reincarnation has.
