Low MCAT success stories? Already got one rejection
For context: I'm a non-trad(ish). I started out as a "traditional" premed (science major, applied right after undergrad), but didn't get in the first two times I applied. (I was deeply unprepared and should not have applied when I did.)
So I took a break to get my MPH, which I planned on doing in med school anyway. I also retook the MCAT last spring and got a 506, with such an abysmal C/P score I'm too embarrassed to say the number. Just know it was below 50th percentile.
I was already rejected by CUSOM due to my low MCAT. They specified that it was because I didn't score 50th percentile+ in all sections. So on top of being bummed, I'm also super worried because I thought I otherwise fit their applicant profile very well.
My stats are:
- 3.92 science GPA, 3.99 overall GPA
- Straight A's in all my chem/phys classes if relevant
- 506 MCAT - below 50th percentile C/P with 130 CARS
- 26F Asian, reapplicant
- 6000+ clinical hours (full time CMA for 5+ years)
- 100 non-clinical volunteering
- 100 research + currently doing a research internship
- MPH by next spring, 3.9 GPA currently
Tl;dr: I guess I would just like to hear of any low MCAT success stories. I am well aware that my MCAT is a major flaw in my application. But the fact that I was already rejected on my low C/P score alone is a huge bummer.
