Practicality vs Emotions

So my family recently saved up enough. Now we have two choices, buy a new two wheeler, or invest this money.

My obvious answer was to invest in gold, but here's the thing, i have two bikes. One is a 19 year old Honda shine that's barely keeping itself together and the other is a 12 yr old hero pleasure, pretty much in the same condition.

Their suggestion? Buy an access or an iqube as soon as possible, investment can happen later. I don't want to follow this for two reasons.

1. Responsibility, I think I can manage just fine with what I have. I can go to my college with my bike for a couple more years before I move out (probably). I just want a more secure asset for my family.

2. A scooter? After years of yearning for a big chunky 400? It's the obvious financial choice but my heart just says keep up with whatever I have for now and buy a good bike as soon as I grab my first job.

What would you guys suggest? Just looking for opinions
