Question about visiting New Zealand

I've always had NZ on my bucket list as far as destinations go had I've always been excited at the thought of visiting and driving through the north and south. But I was recently on a different sub regarding Australia and someone was mentioning the casual racism that exists there, and then another commenter said that its the same in NZ which came as news to me. Ive never really thought of NZ as racist and for some reason didnt imagine it being racist. Can someone confirm this? Just checking. It wouldn't impact my view on visiting either way. Just wanted to know so I can prepare myself mentally.
