After 15 rejections, finally got an offer…
20M, studying finance at a somewhat target school.
In my freshman year of college, I went 0/8 in my finance internships. They were all so freaking competitive. I just got 2 interviews, while all my friends with parents working in finance got in (I'm pretty sure they make interviews easier just for them, btw. Most of them told me they get 1-2 rounds of interviews)
Meanwhile I got a freaking behemoth 8-round interview. Also, they all used Cluely and didn't even get caught.
Ended up taking up a job at a local pharmacy while they all went to Wall Street. Probably the worst summer of my whole entire life, felt like the biggest loser.
This year, got 7 interviews and managed to get one offer. Also focused on networking and got one of them to help me land an internship using a connection his dad had. Also used Cluely on it.
Now, 6 months later, I just finished my finance internship, and while I really enjoyed it, I've always felt a bit guilty and empty. All my same friends also got that same internship, and I don't ever see them feeling the slightest bit of guilt or shame.
Ngl, I'm not feeling that good about it, but that money doesn't lie ($55/hr). I guess that's the college game…
