Help for high schoolers
Hey folks. I teach English in the USA. Mostly my students have typed their work for the last 8-10 years. But in the last 2-3, AI has become enough of a problem that m, like many of my colleagues, I’m thinking of going back to paper and pencil.
The problem is that about half write so terribly it’s slow and hard to read, and theres usually one or two in each class that are nearly unintelligible. These problems can double or triple my grading time. I can’t afford that with my duties to work and family.
So, I’ve thought about a one week “boot camp” in writing legibly. For the worst, maybe even trying to get them to simply write in all caps.
Would you all have any advice, tips, or resources that might help me? I’ve already thought about providing better pens like having a stockpile of rollerballs. But any other ideas, guidance, etc would be helpful.
Thanks!
