Hospital Stay Words of Wisdom and Encouragement
We have been combo feeding and I was pumping on and off then feeding only at the breast until we landed at the children’s hospital. Our baby is doing well but also a medical mystery and they don’t really know what is going on. So we will be here for weeks (?) it is very unclear and uncertain.
Once we got to the hospital I switched to exclusively pumping. Got the hospital grade Medela and flanged in my size, have a spectra at home and go back and forth to sleep and see my 17 month old.
This is a hard situation but man the pumping schedule on top of everything!!! I also have gallstones so I have to be really careful of what I eat and to stay hydrated.
Has anyone else here had a similar experience? Any words of advice or encouragement for getting through this?
One hard thing is to see her drinking less milk than I’m producing now. But it is because she has to be restricted for tests or is having less due to being sick. It’s hard to tell if I’m keeping up with her future supply needs or not. Also just hard emotionally to see it.
