Recruiter DM from BCS Vantage. I'm not in a business development oriented role. Thoughts?
I work at a top global engineering consulting firm (not an engineer - I do infrastructure advisory for public agencies in the transit sector) and have been at my current role for about 3 years, since having graduated with a bachelors in 2023. SoCal.
A recruiter from BCS DM'd me on LinkedIn saying I'd be a good fit for a role BCS Vantage has open for a senior analyst with experience in project delivery. The description generally matches with my experience, and would be a good pay/benefits increase from my current employer. I'm meeting with the recruiter next week to discuss the details of the role.
Here's the kicker: I don't have an MBA, and while I do share overlap with the role's qualifications, I don't have collegiate training or extensive work experience in economic consulting, and I'm much more of a "do-er" than a "seller" in my current role, so I lack business development savvy (although I'm quite interested in becoming more of a seller!) I know what it takes to make it in the infrastructure consulting world, but I feel a bit out of the water in Big 4 or related firms, because it's not the sector where I've been trained on how to market myself.
Do I even stand a chance in an interview without these pre-requisites? Is this recruiter message BS and sent out to a bunch of people? What do I need to do to be prepared for an interview, should a recruiter pass me along to the next steps? I've seen chats on here about consulting cases and preparing for those. Any further advice or other insights?
