Getting that itch to upgrade from my 77D. Is the R7 that good, or will a 90D be just fine?
I've had my 77D for nearly 9 years and take it whenever I go on vacation. Taking pictures of new things is a big reason to travel for me and it has served me well. With that said, I am thinking of getting a new body and am wondering if it's worth it for me to switch to a R7 or if a 90D will do just as well.
Purpose: Pretty much just vacation photos. I like just flipping through them when I'm back and maybe take a few of them to make a small photo book or put on canvas to hang around my home.
Budget: Wouldn't say there necessarily is one, though money is something that I don't want to spend too much of. Looking to buy Refurbished from Canon to save a bit, but if it's important to buy New, I'll consider it. Just below $1,000 would be ideal, though I understand if tariffs effectively makes this impossible.
I mainly keep a Sigma 2.8 17-55mm on my body, and then occasionally swap it for a 24mm 2.8 pancake and a 55-250 IS to take pictures of planes. I don't take a wide variety of subjects.
The main reason I'm thinking of upgrading is better low-light performance, which I'm aware is already limited by looking at APS-C cameras instead of committing to a full frame. I love using my 77D, but it drives me nuts whenever I'm trying to sneak in a picture of a steak I'm eating at a restaurant and I end up spending minutes to do so because I decided a phone pic wouldn't do. I hear the R7 is a big step up in that regard (plus the focusing and the in body stabilization) but I'm hesitant to make the jump to mirrorless because I just like the feel of my DSLR better. As such, I'm open to getting a 90D, especially if it will let me keep using what I have without needing to spend more dough on adapters.
