Amazon account restricted to digital purchases, looking for advice
Hey everyone, I’m just looking for some advice because I honestly don’t know what else to do at this point.
During FIFA time, I had a bunch of issues with orders. I ordered some items in June, but I was being told they wouldn’t be delivered until September. They were perishable items, so obviously waiting that long wasn’t really an option.
I contacted customer service multiple times and was given different explanations, lost in transit, a glitch, etc. but the advice I kept getting was basically the same: cancel the order and try ordering again.
I ended up doing this around 4 times, following the advice I was being given. Eventually I just gave up and bought the items somewhere else.
More recently, I ordered multivitamins and had a huge issue with that order. Basically, the package arrived in what was essentially a biohazard situation. I have evidence of everything, including photos/video from opening the package and discovering what was wrong with it. There was absolutely no dishonesty involved.
I had no issue returning it, but obviously because it was a biohazard, it wasn't something that could simply be sent back through the normal return process.
A refund was initially issued, but then within a few hours the money was taken back, and I received a message saying my account is restricted to digital purchases because of a high number of cancellations/returns.
The frustrating part is that these weren't me constantly ordering things and changing my mind. Several of the cancellations happened because Amazon customer service literally told me to cancel and reorder, and the most recent return was because I received something that was genuinely unsafe.
The appeal link in the message doesn't work, and regular customer service hasn't been able to help me. I've tried both text chat and calling, and they basically just tell me they can't do anything about the restriction.
I was given ofm@amazon.com as an email to contact, but I'd honestly be lucky if I even got a response.
I'm really at my wits' end right now. I was recently robbed, and the money from this refund was supposed to go toward my insulin, and now I can't access that money or use Amazon for the things I need.
I completely understand Amazon having systems in place to prevent people abusing returns. If I had actually been abusing the system, I'd understand the restriction. But that's not what happened here. I have evidence for the orders, the customer-service interactions, and the condition the multivitamins arrived in.
So I'm wondering if anyone here has gone through something similar and actually managed to get their account restriction removed.
What worked for you? Did emailing OFM actually get you anywhere? Is there another way to appeal when the appeal link doesn't work? And realistically, is there anything else I can do besides just waiting and hoping someone reviews it?
I'm not looking for special treatment, I just want someone to actually look at the circumstances behind the cancellations/return rather than the system simply counting them as a bunch of returns.
Any advices ? I'd appreciate it 🫀
