Shiny/glossy/boiled egg looking skin on adapelene?
To preface I’m a male and I don’t like the shiny look. I got on tret and then now adapelene to control acne. Right now I use adapelene 0.5 every night with BP wash in the morning.
My face is very shiny and glossy. I also get oily through the day. However, even when my face is completely dry out of the shower, it looks oddly shiny in certain lightings. Almost like a plastic/glossy look. It looks wierd because the rest of my body looks so matte which is so different from my face in terms of the reflection it’s giving. My skin used to have a matte look before this. I’ve honestly stopped wearing sunscreen cause it makes it even more noticeable. Skin does fine in the sun though lol. Also this isn’t a barrier issue, trust me, when my skin was irritated moisturizer would hurt when applying. It doesn’t hurt at all right now.
I’m considering reducing usage, spot treating certain areas only, or just stopping retinoids all together. While It has helped my skin tremendously, I feel incredibly self conscious with the shine.
